Whew.

What a day so far. I just spent the morning cleaning and then went grocery shopping for almost 2 hours. Jeez.

Karl was SO GOOD at the store. Since he's my climber, I use my shopping car cover thing (what is those things called?) and strap him in. All I need to do is give him something crinkly to hold (this time it was a bag of chocolate chips) and he keep himself busy, smiling at anyone who walks by. I still can't believe how lucky I got in the good baby department.

How are your kids when you go shopping?

My daughter threw a tantrum in the entrance to Target yesterday. I had to carry her out to the car and threaten to go back without her (I meant later, when she was at daycare, but she might have inferred that I was going to leave her at home or in the car). We're having dominance issues lately, anyway, so it was just one more thing. Add to that no nap, and a trip to the dentist where she refused to have her teeth cleaned and disaster was brewing. But, once she calmed down, we had a good time in the store. She tested out all the toys, played all the music samplers, and commented on just about everything.

She's always been pretty good in the store. I'm a lucky girl.

I've only taken my son shopping a few times- I consider grocery shopping to be part of my rare "me" time. The couple times I've taken him, he's been pretty good.

Sam is almost always good. I give him my keys or something I am buying and he's good. He has taken to trying to crawl out even when strapped in so I have to hook him extra tight.

Aidan has been a butt lately so we've had problems with him throwing fits. Most times if I let him take things down and put them in the cart, he'll be good.

Both kids are great, one sleeps, the other pushes.
I will say I'm luckt also in the good baby department. I don't dare talk to much about it because I don't want to jinx myself, but I feel like I'm still waiting for the newborn honeymoon to be over.

If I go to Food Lion and let Gabe push one of the children's sized carts, he is great.

Now that Jillian is walking, it is a bit tougher. She always wants to stand up in the cart (no matter how tight we strap her in she wiggles out!). Or get down and walk, but she won't yet hold our hand. Or be held by us as we push the cart. I find that distraction is the key, and bringing one of her favorite snacks along for the trip really helps!

Annika has been shopping like 5 or 6 times and she sleeps the entire time. Of course she's only 3 weeks old so I'm sure that luxury won't last too long.

Caiden is a champion shopper! She did black friday shopping with the girls at the biggest mall in the suburbs. Only one meltdown, but that was thankfully at the tail end of me trying on dresses. Aftr getting in her sling she was all good for the next few hours!

As long as we have a toy & her cart cover thingy we are usually golden for grocery shopping- I even got a compliment once or twice on how good she is... I hope that lasts!

I don't go shopping with him alone :) Does that answer?

It depends. If I'm stupid and go before they eat lunch and around nap time, they're NIGHTMARES! If I do it the smart way and make sure they're well rested and fed and have a good bribe for the end of the trip then they're pretty good.

I have been shopping with the boys since they were newborns. It was my outing that made me feel sane. So, they got so used to it that they love it! Especially now that they ride in the shopping cart. They even have friends at the grocery store that they wave at and "talk" to when we see them. It is so great to have kids behave when we're out in a store.

On quiet days at the mall, I have let them out of the stroller to walk around with me. They always stay by the stroller knowing that if they don't... back in they go. It's good training.

Mine are great, although particularly now that we're with my parents, I have the luxury of going out with just my little one.I wear him in the Ergo and he has a blast.

The older one likes stores because he points at stuff and talks about it.

I HAVE to put Jake (almost 17 months) in the cart cover thingy, he climbs out of the strap that's on the cart. It's useless to even put him in the cart without his cover. he doesn't even try to budge. Go figure.

My kids are awesome when we go shopping, unless DH is with us, and then he lets them do things I don't allow them to do (goofing off in the store, etc) and they get sort of loud. But what can I say? He gets the chance to go shopping with them maybe twice a month, so I just pretend I don't know any of them when they start to act that way and let it slide. :D I love when we go to JCPenney because they ride the escalators up and down and I get to look for their clothing in peace. ;)

Generally I don't have any issues UNLESS I take all 4 kids right after I've picked the oldest 2 up from school. They are BEARS after school, and a trip to Walmart for groceries is not what they have in mind. So I take the youngest 2 before school pickup to do errands most of the time. They are angels in public.

Boo is pretty good at the grocery store. He thinks everybody needs to talk to him. He likes riding in the cart. He is usually good at the mall, watching people and lights. But the other day he was not happy.

Karl sounds awesome!

Andrew is pretty good. He was especially good when he was younger. Now, he is used to being let out of the cart when we get through the line (DH does this and watches him as he runs around the store) so sometimes when we are browsing down the aisles he will say, "down! down!".

Also, when we go to one certain store, he will freak out because he KNOWS there are giant M&M cookies in the bakery. I don't even go into the store with him anymore because he had a ridiculous cookie tantrum one day. I stay in the car while DH goes in and grabs a few things (it's a smaller store--a natural food store).

Mason is really good when we go shopping to, he enjoys getting out in public and seeing new things and most of the time getting alot of attention from people...he takes it all in haha! Isn't it weird how the weirdest shit entertains them? Mason would rather play with a bowl and spoon than a toy with bright lights and noise! Crazy.
