A mask is not a costume!

Kids are really ~not~ trying this year. At least in my neighborhood. But then again, I do live in the ghetto, so maybe their parents could only afford the mask.

When teenagers come to the door without a costume and a bag asking for candy, I'll give them candy. But first ... I make them do a human trick to make up for the lack of trying. I know the trick part of trick or treat means if I don't treat them, they can trick me. But I'm turning it around and making them do a trick for me.

When I first tell them the deal, they look at me like I'm kidding. I'm not. Some do something funny like burp and say the alphabet. Or turn their eyelids inside out. Some just look at me incredulously and just stand there. I say to them "can't you do anything??" And they'll do something stupid like lift up one foot and jump up and down and spin in a circle.

It's so funny and so worth it. I actually wish more teenagers came.

It's official. I suck.

I'm actually making my "I suck at blogging" post. Well, I don't suck at blogging, as I have 618 posts on my other blog, but I suck at this one. The funniest part is this is my "motherhood" blog, which is really what I spend most of my time doing!

Some quick updates...

Ella is sick. Fever and sore throat. She is stressing she will miss halloween, but we're doing the best we can at getting her well by then. Even if she is sick, I'll still let her trick-or-treat on the block, but she'll miss her school party tomorrow. Poor baby.

Allison is not sick. I should have sent her to school today, but I'm working from home so I thought she would keep Ella company. Bad move on my part. All she's doing is irritating Ella. One child is so much easier than two. I should have sent her to school. Oi.

Other than that, things are going normal on a daily basis. We got new carpet and I rearranged their room so I could put their play table and chairs in there instead of the living room, making room for baby. And we started on the nursery, which I am thrilled about. What is really cool is the girls are really showing more excitement about the baby's arrival, now he has his own room. (and no one said anything about him getting his own room and them sharing. sweet!) They are referring to the baby as "karl" now, instead of "baby brother", so I think it's becoming more real.

I'm going to have to make it a habit to post something about the girls everyday. Or close to it. At least something, right? I need to figure out what I'm really blogging about here. I used to wait for "something" to say, but I'm sure I just have to think about what I really want to use this space for. When I was still TTC, the separation of blogs was so black and white. If I had anything to say about kids, I did it here. But now I'm pregnant and I blog about it over there, the lines have started to blur. And then what happens when I have the baby? Do I move it all over here? Do I move it all over there? Ugh.

Memory Loss Meme

I stole this one from the fantabulous Mrs Spock, but since they turned out to be baby/kid pictures, I thought I would post on this blog instead.

The idea is to post the 6th picture from the 6th folder on your computer, but I'm at work right now (on a conference call, so I'm not cheating!) so I don't have too many pictures. I only have 3 folders with not a lot of pictures in each one, so here is the 6th picture from each of my 3 folders.

My first picture is from my "allison" folder, taken when only a week old. It's actually my favorite picture from that shoot:

The second picture is from my "ella" folder, taken when she was a little over two years old:

The last picture is taken from the general "My Pictures" folder, which just happens to be the first u/s picture of our new baby, Karl, when we could finally verify he implanted directly into my uterus. Yay!

So, pretty cool that the 6th picture in each folder ended up being a picture of each of my children.

Such a nice fall afternoon.

The hubby was gone all day to a football game, so me and the girls sat outside soaking in the last days of warm weather. (It's kind of ironic I felt today was so warm while the top of the mountain next to me is covered in snow already. Nutty.)

There was an airshow a few miles from the house today, so the girls thought they'd be able to wave at the pilots if they were on top of their slide. (I'm sure it worked.):

They quickly got bored and started to act silly for the camera:

Such loving sisters. What I should be taking pictures of are their tug of wars over the blue marker. Believe me, it's not always like this:

Action shots!:

Does she look a little bit mischevious at the moment? I can just hear her thinking "I wonder if mommy would get mad if I poured this on her?...":

Why yes, yes she would. Even though with this belly, I'm quite the target.:

It's 10:43pm right now and I'm starving. Time to go add some girth to my flat stomach. ~wink~
