milestones, milestones, milestones.

Karl can walk on anything he can pull himself up on. If the thing moves (like a walker he can push behind) he will walk with it. He won't let go to even stand on his own, but if he can stand up on it, he can walk around or with it.

Allison is hitting her stride from being "alone" during the day without Ella. At first she would just sit around bored, but now she's taken up a lot of pretend play or she'll play with her little brother.

And now for the biggie. Ella can READ. She's got about 50 "sight words" (words she knows by sight) in her back pocket and can do a damned good job at sounding out words she doesn't know. This AMAZES me. I mean, I knew she'd learn how to read, but already? She's amazing. (I'm sure all other mommies of kindergartners say the same thing, but still.)

Way to go Ella!! Kindergarden isn't all fun and games any more. I'm sure we didn't read that young. That is awesome about all of the kids!

Merry Christmas ;) I wondered where you had disappeared to!

I think reading is such an awesome milestone, I was amazed when DS started reading.

I would also be amazed! To be in kindergarten and reading is quite the accomplishment!

Sounds like you've been very busy with some pretty smart kids!

Way to go Karl, Allison, and Ella!!!

Any big plans for Karl's first birthday? I can't believe he and my Abigail will be one in just a few short weeks!

Yay for almost walking and reading!

Sam is climbing on everything-in fact, climbed up on the activity table and sat there looking all sorts of proud.

They are all so awesome! Ella had me impressed when I was there with her sight words & finding them ~in~ other words!
Allie is a love- I'm glad she is starting to get into her own groove!

And Karl- he just rocks. :) Isn't he almost 1? Like next month?

Wow - big milestones for everyone! You have great kids but I'm sure a lot of that comes from having great parents. Give yourself a pat on the back!

So fun to watch the kiddos growing up! It seems like you just had Karl, and now he's walking?? And I can't believe our "babies" are reading. So crazy.

Yay Ella! Coming from a teacher, I am impressed. :)

Karl is on the move, huh?? I just cannot believe he is almost a year old!

Glad to see an update on the kiddos! They are such cuties. :)

Go Karl! See, he may have crawled a little late, but I consider 11 months early for (almost) walking. I'm sure in the next 3 weeks he will take those real steps.

Good for Allison for playing more independently. Andrew isn't very good at this (yet) but is getting better.

And yay for Ella reading! I could read all by myself at four and so could my sister. My mom read a big stack of books to us every night and I truly believe it helped. Kindergarten was so boring and my teacher would tell my mom that I was "daydreaming" too much. Well, um, we were learning "A is for apple"--no kidding I was bored! They say that kids that read early do so much better in school, so good for her. You have some smart cookies there, Nancy.
