and I am wide awake. All because of a diaper rash.
Oh yes, a diaper rash. Karl's little bum is super sensitive and we have already dealt way too much of his fair share of them. Hell, the first few weeks of his life was spent with a GI bug and ~every~ diaper change consisted of a bleeding rash and major crocodile tears. Poor baby didn't know any better than to think every diaper change was painful. He never had a painless change until weeks and weeks after his birth.
(pediatrician says newborns with GI issues "heal" much, much later than it normally would if baby was a tad bit older. I went through a dozen, if not more, newborn diapers a day. I also used an entire tub of the best diaper creme in the world - triple paste. The only diaper rash cream without the stinging stuff that's in butt paste, destitin, A+D, etc... basically everything working on the main ingredient of zinc oxide. Triple paste, at $30 for a small tub, was worth its weight in gold. Anywho, back to my story.)
I have been programmed to wake up with his cries this week due to another diaper rash caused, I think, by an incoming tooth. It's ~just~ about t0 pop through. Here's hoping it comes through sooner rather than later.
So here I am. Awake as the rest of the family sleeps. My back hurts too bad to just try to lay back down, so here I sit until a pain pill starts to work. Back pain sucks. It sucks even more at 3:46a. Bah. This sucks.

Poor little Karl! I've never heard of Triple Paste. I'll have to check that out.
I hope you were able to get back to sleep.
I hope you managed to get a few more zzz's!
((HUGS))
wow! poor little guy... the only thing that keeps both of my kids from getting diaper rash are pampers sensitive wipes (in the white container). I've tried others and the diapers rash that follows makes me go back to the PS. Worth a try for $2!
Ouch - nothing worse than diaper rash, except maybe being up at 3:30 am. Hope his little bottom heals quickly, his tooth pops out, and you can return to sleeping through the night.
Poor baby. Poor momma. I hope he can get some rest. Back pain does suck.
Oh no! That sounds horrible. I'm sorry!
My cream of preference is California Baby Calming Rash Cream -- the stuff is awesome and contains no parabens.
Hope Karl is feeling better soon. Sorry about the back pain too. I'm afraid that I can relate these days as to just how miserable it can be.
I guess we were up together. Layla has a diaper rash too, probably from her teeth as well. So we were up from 3 to 4 too. I hope both our little ones heal quickly so they (and we) can get some rest.
Teddy uses the jumbo jar of Triple paste as well - I gulped when I saw the price at the store but like you said - totally worth it. Diaper rash is the pitts. Hope his fanny is better and you get to squeeze in a nap today!!
Been there done that. Sam gets it bad with every tooth. And right now his penis is all inflamed from a bad diaper last night and I have to put antibiotic ointment which he does not like. And those diaper changes in the middle of the night are always worse
Timmy's also had some wicked diaper rash, which always seems to end up getting fungal. SO hard to make your kid scream like that. We do use just baby soap on a paper towel when it's really bad so that the wipes aren't as painful... I hope that Karl's bum gets better soon!!
Diaper rash over here too. Damn antibiotics!
I'll have to look into tripple paste. I swear their poop turns to acid when on that crap, I sleep with B when he's on antibiotics just so I can catch his poop's and he still gets them so bad he bleeds.
Poor guy. That sounds just miserable. :(
Ugh! Poor baby... and mom! I count my lucky stars (yes I totally use that expression!) that caiden has not really gotten any rashes.
I hope his tooth pops & his butt heals & you all get some good sleep!
