so he's ~not~ gigantic.

Karl's 4th month appointment was yesterday and he weighed in at a mere 13 1/2 lbs, which is the 25th percentile for baby boys. Wow. 75% of baby boys at 4 months are bigger than him. I guess I'm just used to the girls who were smaller?

Anywho, this isn't an exciting post except something for me to remember. He was 25th%tile weight, 50th%tile in height and head.

He's not rolling over yet, but I rarely do tummy time. It pisses him off so why subject a kid to that? blah blah blah it's recommended blah blah blah. Guess what? I didn't do it for the girls either and they both walk upright and can hold their heads up.

What is he doing? Laughing, "talking" and singing with me whenever I sing "you are my sunshine" to him. It's awesome. He's reaching out for toys and grabbing them and sticking them in his mouth. He drools. A lot. No teeth yet (ella had 4 fucking teeth by 3 months old, allie had zero at a year) so i'm not looking for anything to happen but simply knowing it will.

It's actually weird having a 3rd baby, i'm just not "looking" for anything to happen or worrying about it or anything. I just note when something does happen. Poor karl, mommy isn't a neurotic mess over his development.

I'm glad your kiddos turned out okay without tummy time. Jillian is also not a fan. Sitting is far more preferable to her.

When I sing to Jillian she just laughs at me. Should I be offended?

I ALWAYS since "You are My Sunshine" to Mason and he just laughs and smiles, it melts my heart. Love ya Nancy, glad to hear from you again!

Stay tough through all the hell, MurderRita!

No Tummy Time?!?!?! How could you?! I bet you let your kids watch TV, too... lol hahahha

Hell, Joey was starting to walk before it dawned on him that he could roll over whenever he wanted. He HATED tummy time with a passion and I refused to subject him to it.

Sam is getting better with tummy time but he usually just flips right over to his back. He isn't rolling yet other than that. No teeth but good god he's been teething for over two months now. My guy is little though he only weighs about 14 lbs but he is a month older than yours.

I learned not to worry too much on some things early on because it only stressed me out.

Glad things are good with the kids.

I share your sentiments on tummy time. We're not big fans of it in this house either.

I'm not too concerned.

Our kids are so opposite- Caiden's truly huge- she's got to be over 11 pounds by now! She loves tummy time so much that that's the only thing that makes her happy sometimes. Oh- and she ~refuses~ to sleep at night! ;o)

Seriously though- Karl is awesome & I'm glad you don't have to be neurotic (like me!) about his development. This way you can just relish him being himself!

Hooray for Karl, sounds like he is doing wonderful!

Colin went for his 2 month visit this week. He is 50th percentile (12 lbs) for weight and 75th for height.

It's funny I started reading this just after picking Keelin up from being on her tummy which she HATES but it gets rid of the hiccups. I'm pretty sure her head is way too big for her to pick up so I'm the only thing tummy time will accomplish at this point is pissing her off.

LOL I'm sure Karl is fine even though you aren't freaking out about his development.

Awww cute!!! Lil guy!!! Shame on you Mama for no tummy time! LOL! JK! A few of my friends didn't do it either and their kiddos are just fine!!!

Ella had four teeth by three month! Wow, that seems like A LOT but maybe it's because my kid is like your Allie. One year and still nothing.
I didn't do tummy time with Lawson either because he puked everytime he was on his tummy. The health nurse said that he would hit his physical milestones later because of it and he is on the end of the scale. But I don't actually care about physical developement. I'd rather a kid that is emotially intelligent.

Anyways, I'm glad you posted, I've been missing your posts!

I guess boys are bigger in general, even as babies. I was convinced Nathan was giant because he felt huge compared to our tiny little Bayla. He weighed a pound and a half more than her at 4 months, but he was still only at 3% (or maybe below?) on the curve.

Andrew has always been on the smaller side too! Now his height is getting up there, but he's still skinny (I was always 90th% for height and 10th % for weight, so it's normal).

Andrew hated tummy time too!

Also, that is insane that Ella had 4 teeth at 3 months; I thought Andrew was pretty abnormal when two popped through at 3 months, 2 days!

Our guy would always do tummy time on one of us; we'd recline and he'd push up and play and such. He wouldn't tolerate it on the floor until he could already roll over.

He walked late, but I'm not so dumb as to blame a lack of "authentic" tummy time. Chemo-induced neuropathy might be more to blame...

I hear ya about the tummy time thing. Zilla HATED it. Zilla hated just about anything, except for me and my breasts. Sending you hugs, more and lots of em!

I'm the same with D. Everyone keeps encouraging him to walk, he's nearly 14 months now so ye, ok, though I'm in no hurry. I reckon he'll just go straight to running!

At 10 weeks, my little guy is big! He weighed in at 13 lbs, 11 oz. No wonder our backs hurt!

I think tummy time is something of a crock. Sure, if they like it, do it, but as you say, why torture them if they don't? Supposedly it's to counteract putting babies on their backs to sleep. We didn't/don't do that either lol.

I *do* have a gigant freak baby. Wayyyyyyy off the top of the charts in height, and at the top for weight. People expect him to be much older than he is, esp as he got teeth fairly early as well.

No reason to be neurotic. My daughter didn't like tummy time either. It used to royally p(ss her off. Sounds like he's doing great!

I'm happy to hear that some kids don't do tummy time and still turn out normal! :) It gives me hope because I have a feeling I will be TERRIBLE at it ;-)

and his head is still round.
I never did Tummy time with DS.
I mean... I put him on his tummy as an alternative to being on his back all the time, but I had never heard of tummy time.

I also hear it's normal to lighten up more with each kid. I'm looking forward to that with this one.
I hope I dont call 911 just because my baby rolls off a 2 foot high bed (blush). I was a little paranoid back then.

I was always a freak about tummy time, everybody told me how important it was and therefore I always gave the same advice. And all 4 of my kids have LOVED being on their tummies (for the most part) so I thought that ALL babies ~should~.

But you know, you just made me think something. Eventually they all get to where they ~need~ to be so it's not really THAT big a deal.

Right?

Anyway, glad you're back and feeling much better. :)
