$180

I just got done buying the girls' school supplies. $180! I can't believe the amount of things on their list. Five reams of copy paper. Markers. Paint. Playdough. Paper towels. Hand sanitizer. Pencils. Erasers. Stickers. Towels for rest time. The list goes on and on.

I lucked out in finding everything I needed in one store though. That was nice. Actually, I didn't find a painting smock. Where in the heck will I find that one?
Now I have to lug it all to the school. But at least the hard part is done. Whew!

I can't believe both girls will be in school now! Is Allison excited?

I know it's a lot of money, but as a teacher let me say thank you for actually buying the supplies. So many parents just assume that stuff is "extra" and not really needed or that the school will just cover it. What happens is that the teachers cover it and then that money comes out of our pockets.

Wow! I only have one in school, but I spent under $30 for all her supplies.

I can't believe school is starting so soon already. I'm sure the kids are very excited!!

Or, use one of the hubby's old shirts!

Good gravy! I only spent about $30 for Aidan and I bought extra for his class for kids that couldn't buy stuff! I guess maybe his list is smaller. Though I did spend another $15 for a Bakugan backpack 'cuz heaven forbid he go with Spongebob.

We have a county list now which asks for very little. Great for parents, but teachers pay more later

ToysRus has a crayola art smock on sale.$3 Check the online ad to see if it is what you are looking for.

I have 1 in preschool and 1 in kindergarten and I spent close to $100 for their stuff. I still have to buy a book of stamps!! It is CRAZY how much stuff you need.

I was going to suggest an old T-shirt from you or your hubby or even an old button down shirt that has some pockets.

Also, Walmart seems to have awesome deals on back to school items.

When I was little we used old adult shirts for painting smocks. You could probably find real smocks at craft stores but that's only a guess. Good luck!
